Yesterday we noticed a cluster of bees beneath a hive, something we never have seen. They were still there today. Bob Livingston suggested that it is a swarm, and we should catch it. We placed the nuc box under the cluster, removed 3 of the five frames, gave it several swipes with the bee brush. Almost instantly those not yet in the box began flying and marching in. Accordingly, we didn't bother looking for the queen; she most certainly was in there. The was the easiest, and fastest swarm capture we've ever done. We'll look for the queen when they are settled in their new home.
