The University of Florida Honey Bee Research and Extension Lab want to let you know about some new learning opportunities for you and other beekeeper associations in Florida.
As you may know, our lab runs the UF/IFAS Master Beekeeper Program, a four-level certificate program for beekeepers around the world. Some highlights of this program include the following:
This program is 100% online, can be started at any time, and has no deadlines.
The content is science-based and teaches beekeeping best management practices.
Practical beekeeping skills are assessed at each level.
Every other month participants gather virtually to network and discuss bees with their peers.
There are three big changes to this program that I would like to share with you:
The online courses have been completely revamped with improvements to usability, accessibility, and quiz formats.
We now offer a Bee Club Discount of 20% for Florida beekeeper associations that purchase 10+ registrations at a time. These registrations can then be purchased by club members, raffled off, or otherwise distributed to best suit the needs of your club. Bulk purchases can be made via check (preferred) or online (this comes with a $136+ processing fee, so is not preferred). Some clubs may use this as an opportunity to develop new beekeeper cohorts that move through the program together. I am happy to chat about this more if interested!
Experienced beekeepers (with 2+ years experience) can now test out of the Apprentice Beekeeper level (Level 1).
